"...so it's off into the woods I go, to lose my mind and find my soul"

Just be ... Free to be YOU
Just be ...
Free to be YOU
"Do the things you used to talk about doing but never
did. Know when to let go and when to
hold on tight. Stop rushing. Don't be intimidated to say it like it is. Stop
apologizing all the time. Learn to say
no, so your yes has some oomph. Spend time with the friends who lift you up,
and cut loose the ones who bring you down.
Stop giving your power away. Be
more concerned with being interested than being interesting. Be old enough to appreciate your freedom,
and young enough to enjoy it. And finally know who you are.” - Kristin Armstrong
Not
only do I love the way this passage is written, but also the bold message it
prescribes with its truth, the raw honesty with which the writer portrays
insinuating blatant rebellion and stubborn defiance. Refusing the weight of the ominous
‘stereotype stigma’, which we have been conditioned with at the hand of society. A stereotype few of us chose yet senselessly
adapted to.
I love the picture of
a romantic notion of oblivion, vividly painted by the author, suggesting a complete
dismissal of this dubious thing called reality and thereby confirming to me,
that ignorance is, indeed bliss.
The author, Kristin
Armstrong, tells us to embrace who we are and in doing so you can proudly and
freely live your truth. Although this
seems so simple enough, for some the mere thought of even attempting to succeed
at the ominous task living out this notion is an enormously scary and most
complex task, but why? Why scary in
particular and what exactly is it that makes adapting this mindset, a most
complex task? The answers remain somewhat
elusive to say the least, even though
I have written many pieces on the complexity of this very topic- from my
own point of view obviously –being an honours grad student
attending the prestigious, ‘School of Life’.
I am however, delighted to say that an ever so slight awakening has
started taking place in my search for a deeper understanding - no, as complete
understanding rather – as to encourage the paradigm mind shift that needs to
take place, so that I too, can finally get to know me, embrace the revelation
of living life to the fullest and accept the truth that is me and in accomplishing
that, live a content life of appreciation, acceptance and the freedom to be
completely, guilt free, me.
Yes, ignorance is
bliss – the less you know, the more confident you can be in undertaking the
most mundane to the most complex of tasks – guaranteeing success in some form
or another. Whereas reality, often being
the rude awakening we shy away from, is usually the brutal force that drags us
from the beautiful bliss of faith in
yourself, And reveals the harsh judgment we weigh
ourselves against in the futile attempt of ‘living a normal existence’. The very same ‘normal existence society would
prescribe us to do.
For me the irony
however lies exactly in this place called
reality – the normal existence –
because the truth of the matter is - and again I remind you that this is merely
my humble opinion – is that reality is but a projection of your
very own thoughts, the things you think of or would think about as a
habit. Basic elementary teaches us that
To get something different, you must do something different – so it only makes
sense that in order to for us to adopt a meaningful, happier and fulfilled
life, we would have to turn our thoughts, words and attitude in the opposite
direction to the way we have been existing.
In perusing the contrary to the weighed down, powerless, somewhat dismal,
‘normal’ existence, we must act, talk, expect and think the change – to make a
change we must BE the change. Then we will be able to adapt the new mindset and
enter into our desired outcome- a life lived joyously with the freedom to be
the appreciative, carefree and self confident being you desire to be.
Free to be you.
Free to just be.
